JERRY COLLINS, PHD
Jerry Collins, PhD, is Professor Emeritus of, and Senior Research Scientist in Anesthesiology at the Yale University School of Medicine. He previously served as chair of the Yale IACUC. Prior to chairing the Yale IACUC, he worked with local, state, and national organizations to improve scientific literacy among high school students. During that time he was the Yale University spokesperson on the subject of the use of animals in research, teaching, and testing. Dr. Collins developed and served as the first chair of the Society for Neuroscience Committee on Neuroscience Literacy and worked closely with the National Association for Biomedical Research (NABR) in efforts to educate the public about the importance of animals in the research process. Dr. Collins served on the board of directors of NABR and worked on a part-time basis as a consultant to the OLAW Division of Policy and Education. Dr. Collins currently serves on the Board of the Scientists Center for Animal Welfare (SCAW) and the IACUC 101TM Series and is a member of the AAALAC Council on Accreditation.
